Ukelele Group Class

  • Presser Arts Center 900 South Jefferson Street Mexico, MO, 65265 United States (map)

This class is open to 3rd grade students to senior citizens. We hope to eventually split into advanced and beginner classes. Participants will need to have a ukulele.  The cost of the class is $30 per month and will include digital access to print and audio files.

David has taught classroom ukulele at Madison and North Callaway school district, and private ukulele at Mexico Music. This is the first time he’s done a ukulele class at Presser.  Ukulele is a very fun and easy instrument to learn!  The energy of a class increases the learning environment as students observe and help each other, and make a group sound, including simple melodies, chords, singing, whistling, chanting easy songs with light percussion and bass players.  There are many ukulele classes, clubs, groups and jam sessions happening all over with the current popularity the instrument leading to an increasing ukulele community.  Our classes will have recitals, performances and guest artists at Presser as we develop.

The ukulele is David’s favorite instrument because of the success rate and how it’s helped so many students learn and gain confidence and skill in music.

At Mexico Music they offer a complete line of ukuleles starting at $39.95 to professional models and they service what they sell. Reetz has studied most of the popular ukulele methods available and YouTube tutorials to create our own method and song book that is working very well and will be available online to Presser ukulele class members. Anyone interested in learning music should try ukulele because everyone succeeds to some degree on ukulele!
